Aloe vera in Australia, explained properly.

I'm Virginie, a Sydney-based Independent Forever Business Owner. This site does one thing: explain what aloe vera actually is, how to read an aloe label, and what the words on the front of a bottle are allowed to mean. If that helps you buy better, from me or from anyone, it has done its job.

LEARN

Start with the guide. Inner leaf versus whole leaf, what aloin is, what certification seals actually certify, and the five things worth checking on any label.

What you won't find here

I work in advertising for a living. The list below is the set of tactics I'd never sign off for a client, so I don't use them here either.
No before-and-after photos. They imply a result I'm not permitted to promise and can't substantiate.
No claims that aloe treats, prevents or cures anything. These products are regulated as foods and cosmetics in Australia, not as medicines.
No income promises. If you ask about the business side, you'll get the real numbers, including the unflattering ones.
No unsolicited DMs. If you hear from me, it's because you asked.

Most asked

Is there a difference between whole leaf and inner leaf aloe?

Aloe Vera plant grown and harvested by hand
Yes, and it's substantial. Inner leaf means the clear gel only, filleted away from the rind and the latex layer. Whole leaf means the entire leaf is processed and then filtered. Neither is automatically better, but they're not the same product.

What is aloin?

A bitter compound found in the thin yellow latex layer just under the rind. Removing it is the reason filleting and carbon filtration exist as processing steps.
