The Forever aloe range in Australia

The range

Nearly every aloe company buys its aloe from someone else. Forever grows its own. That's the short version of why this range looks the way it does. The company has been vertically integrated since the early 1980s - it bought the field processing operations and the stabilisation patents outright in 1981, and grows aloe on its own farms rather than sourcing from a supplier and putting a label on it. That's still unusual in this category. The reason it matters comes down to one problem. Cut aloe starts degrading almost immediately: a leaf that sits around is a leaf that's lost most of what made it worth harvesting.
So the whole business is built around closing the gap between the field and the bottle: growing it, cutting it, filleting it and stabilising it close to where it grows.
The company exists because someone solved the stabilisation problem; everything else follows from that. Forever says its leaves are harvested by hand, because machinery bruises them. Its aloe drinks carry IASC certification, which is an audited standard covering aloe content, sourcing and truthful labelling, not a claim about what the products do. No seal certifies that.
What's below is grouped by what each thing actually is. There are no prices here, because prices change and this page would be wrong within a week, those live on the store, where they're always current.

Drinks

The aloe vera gels and nectars. This is the part of the range the rest of this site is mostly about. Four of them, and they differ by how much aloe is in the bottle:
  • Aloe Vera Gel is 99.7% inner leaf,
  • Berry Nectar 90.7% with cranberry and apple,
  • Mango 85.8%,
  • Peaches 84%.
The difference is fruit concentrate. Start with the plain one if you want the most aloe, or a flavoured one if you suspect you won't finish the plain one. A drink you actually drink beats a purer one you abandon.

Skincare and personal care

Topical products: gels, cleansers, moisturisers, lotions, shaving and toothpaste, mostly built on aloe rather than water as the base ingredient. These are regulated as cosmetics in Australia, not as medicines. Worth knowing that the aloin limit for products used on skin is higher than for things you drink: the accepted industry limit is 50 parts per million, against under 10 ppm for oral products.
Read the ingredient list the same way as any other label. Where aloe sits in the running order tells you most of what you need.

Nutrition

Supplements and powders: vitamins, minerals, protein, omega, and a few blends. I'm not going to tell you what any of them do. These are regulated as food in Australia, which means health claims have to be pre-approved or formally notified, and I'd keep to that rule even if I weren't required to. What I can tell you is what's in them, which is on the label, and that if you're taking medication or managing a condition the person to ask is your pharmacist, not me.

Bee products

Honey, bee pollen, propolis and royal jelly. Forever keeps its own bees, which is unusual! Most companies selling bee products buy them in. The hives are moved to follow flowering rather than kept in one place. That's genuinely interesting and it says something about how the company operates.

Weight management

There's a weight-management range, including multi-day packs. More info here
